- BENTON COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS GREEN TEAM
The Benton County Sustainability Project 2013 in partnership with Republic Services and OSU Recycling are coordinating waste management and compost collection at the annual Benton County Fair (August 3-6, 2016) and we need your help!
You will staff a recycling station – greeting fair ‘goers and helping them sort their waste into compost, recycling, and trash. This is a big undertaking and we need your support to reduce waste going to the landfill while educating as many people as possible!
Volunteer 4 hours and receive FREE Fair Tickets! For each 4 hours you volunteer, you get a pass plus an additional one-day pass on the day on which your shift(s) falls. Passes will be provided in advance at the volunteer trainings.
Each year students entering grades 7-10 are invited to apply for the Teen Host program. Teen Hosts assist with fun activities at the Fair, greet and guide guests and promote having a good time at the Fair.
Teen Hosts are asked to commit to volunteering for at least three shifts (3-4 hours/shift)and traing sessions prior to Fair. Teen Hosts receive season admission and earn a certificate of Volunteer Hours served.
Applications will be posted in May.
Looking for a fun way to say “Hi” to Fair visitors and lend a helping hand? Staff the Information Booth. Each year the Information Booth is staffed during Fair hours to be the place where people go for schedules & maps, turn in or report Lost/Found items or just stop by to share their comments. Information Booth Volunteers receive free admission for volunteering.
- OPEN CLASS EXHIBIT VOLUNTEERS
What would the Fair be without the exhibits! When you come to the Fair and see all of the beautiful quilts, iced cakes and photographs of distant lands, did you ever think of how all those items got in place? All those items come in on Intake Days, go out on Release Day and are shown during Fair from 11 am to 10pm. As a volunteer your help is needed receiving items during intake (generally the Sunday and Monday before Fair) exhibit watching during Fair to ensure items are kept safe or at Release (the Sunday after Fair) when items are picked up by their owners. Interested? Contact the Superintendents for each area – Fiber Arts, Foods, Fine Arts, Hobbies & Crafts, Photography, Floral and Land Products – Superintendents names and numbers are published in the Exhibition Handbook each year.
